Don’t you think I’m too ordinary?”
“Can you explain?”
I was walking on the pedestal kicking that damn tin can. She was left of. Behind. Maybe that tin can had grabbed too much attention. But her question was necessary. I had to turn, ignoring the poor can.
“You know it has always been my problem, per say, I crave for ordinary.”
“Hmm..I m listening.”
She was fidgeting through her bag. Its been two years now, but she keeps her things in that bag, and lose them, like they went in a black hole.
I smiled and tried to help her.
She tapped on my hand.
“Hush..you can’t touch a girl’s bag!”
Still her hair were falling in the bag, as she was looking for something, on right side of her shoulder.
I kept my hands again in my pocket.
“Continue na..” she wasn’t looking at me.
Needless to say, she’s going to keep me here if I don’t answer this, or well she finds her thing in that damn bag!
“Think it like this, ordinary is beautiful, people say its boring, but if that’s actually true, why have you clinged to it to this day.” I was explaining like I usually do. Arguments are always a price of cake for me.
She finally stopped. Those mighty glasses are found, from that load of crappy bag. She adjusted her glasses and those little eyes peeped at me.
“Spare me please with those engineering definitions, I just want to know what you love about me, my friends always tell me, I have an ordinary face.”, she prompted to be sad, she’s not I tell you.
She came beside me now and grabbed my hand. Her head is resting on my shoulder. We started walking.
“What my eyes can see, and what I get from your ordinary face, is just unimaginable for you, your essence fills me whenever that smile falls on your face, I know every girl in this world is beautiful, but sometimes our heart clings to connection. You may have not the most catchy face, but it keeps my heart beating. That’s how ordinary works, you live for that simplicity, only that can give you satisfaction”
I couldn’t see her face, neither I tried to, cause I know she’s smiling.
Maybe I haven’t answered her question, but now she knows why she’s important to me. That’s what we all want, importance!
