I know most of you are sitting on the fence right now; unable to decide what type of dress is actually the perfect match for your body type. Deciding on a particular dress can prove quite cumbersome especially when it comes to trying out the latest of fashion trends. Worry not! I am here to help you out. Now stop whining and take action.

Know your body type

You see there are a lot of body types – pear shaped, apple shaped, rectangle shaped, etc. If you haven’t heard of them earlier, you know now!

  • Pear shaped body: characterized by broad hips, thin waist and shoulders
  • Rectangle shaped body: Uniform all throughout - equal shoulders, waist and the hips.
  • Apple shaped body: Broad shoulders, narrow waist and smaller hips.
  • Hourglass shaped body: Equally broad shoulders and hips with a narrow waist.

Having discussed the basics, now it is time to go shopping! Well, have a look at what suits you best depending on your body type.

For pear shaped body types:



Balance your hips with padded jackets. Try all ways to take a broad shoulder look. This will help you balance your shoulders with the hips. Prefer not to wear a dark color. Go for lighter shades instead!

For rectangular shaped body types:



Prefer not wearing tight dresses. Highlight your waist using a belt or wearing skirts and A-line dresses if you must.  Wear brighter colors for best results.

For apple shaped body types



Prefer flared bottoms and focus more on your waist and torso region. Remember, all you need to do is to avoid those broad shoulders at all costs. Prefer wearing A-line skirts and V-line necks for best results. Prefer wearing darker colors for your upper body.


For hourglass shaped body types



Well, this is the ideal body type and if you must, highlight that narrow waist of yours by wearing belts and A-size skirts. You are the universal body types and need not worry much about the styling strategies.

I am running in the darkness at night where leaves were hitting my face, birds were chirping, moon is hiding behind the dark clouds. I knew something terrible is chasing me from behind. I don't want to turn around  and see what it is. I kept on running. Suddenly, I heard a voice calling my name. After 5min I heard the same voice calling my name again, this time it was louder. After a few minutes the pitch of the voice increased and I was more scared. Now, it's both, I'm been chased by a voice and some creature. The voice came close to me and whispered, "wake up my son, it's your convocation today." What? Convocation? I then, got a immediate slap on my butt and the voice shouted at me, to wake up. It's my mother and I've been dreaming 😁
